About Lisa Ruderman, LMFT

After sixteen years as an educator, Lisa decided to transition into counseling when she realized the tremendous power of attachment in relationships through her work in the special needs department. Helping people on a personal level, using her tremendous compassion and ability to create change, has created a successful journey for her and her clients.

Married 35 years and counting, Lisa is from a long line of successful marriages. She incorporates her life experience, her vast training in Emotional Focused Therapy as well as her study of interpersonal biology to teach her clients valuable relationship skills that create life long, healthy bonds. Lisa has effectively worked with individuals, couples as well as families in all areas of healing: trauma, depression, chronic illness or absence of intimacy just to name a few.

Lisa was fortunate to have trained with masters in the field of Emotionally Focused Therapy. Dr. Susan Johnson, founder of EFT, and with Dr. Scott Woolley, Director of the MFT Masters and Doctoral Programs at Alliant International University and Executive Director for the TRI EFT, Training Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy at Alliant.

Lisa was a co-founder of the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy, an Adjunct Faculty instructor at Alliant International University, and an Affiliate EFT Trainer for TRI EFT, Training Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy at Alliant International University.

Lisa has supervised therapists all across the country and abroad. She has been conducting EFT workshops in the Netherlands, as well as the Los Angeles area. Lisa has made numerous appearances on local San Diego television news programs.

Lisa has a very active private practice in La Jolla, California focusing on individuals, couples and family therapy. Her office is located at 9850 Genesee Ave. #425, La Jolla, CA 92037 on the beautiful Scripps Memorial Hospital Campus, in the XIMED building.
